The Whole Horse Podcast | Episode 81 | Classical Foundations, Wild Movement and Deep Attention with Shannon Beahen

It’s the very last episode of Season 4 and I’m so glad it was with Shannon Beahen of Humminghorse Equestrian. Our conversation was wide-ranging, fun, tangential, and so enjoyable. We chatted about everything from getting more nuanced about the “no”, to meditation and it’s role in our clarity, to incorporating consent into training, to track systems, and even got into numerology a little! As you’ll hear in this episode, I recently bought a house, and Raven and Diva are now living off property (it’s going well!), so about a week ago Shannon and I had the opportunity to get together in person for a riding lesson and to film a great little video at the new horse space about building a track system which I have included below. I hope you enjoy!

Shannon is an alternative horse trainer, online educator, academic and writer. She specializes in teaching her own “high vibration” approach to natural dressage and liberty as well as the creation of species-appropriate habitats that promote dynamic movement and sovereign equine lifestyles. She is passionate about exploring and articulating the ethics of embodied horse-human relationships. Her hope is that through teaching a deeper awareness of human-animal and human-environment relations, equestrian education ceases to be a privileged pastime; and instead may just provide some of the seeds to birth a new earth.
